SWA have announced their winners for 2024 and we’re so excited to see some of our incredible producers getting the recognition they deserve! The Sommelier Wine Awards is the only wine competition in the UK focused entirely on the needs of customers in the on trade and are a great guide for sommeliers and wine buyers across the industry. Check out this selection of wines from the Matthew Clark portfolio that have received medals from the SWA this year. Gold Awarded Wines

Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle No 26 NV, Champagne, France 

Celebrated for its innovative approach and dedication to crafting exceptional Champagnes, Laurent-Perrier is known for their meticulous blending and commitment to quality. They produce some of the most prestigious and beloved champagnes in the world and this Grand Siècle No.26 NV is no exception. 

Judge Chris Goodale labels this champagne as a big personality with complex florals, stone fruit, and fresh herbs on the finish.

Greyfriars Blanc De Blancs Brut 2015, Surrey, England

Greyfriars is a distinguished English wine producer known for its exceptional sparkling wines crafted from estate-grown grapes. Fermentation for this delicious Blanc de Blancs Brut is carried out entirely in used oak barriques and the wine is also aged for six months.  

It’s ‘bright, fresh and zesty on the nose, with generous, rich vanilla notes, leading to a lovely mousse on the palate’ says SWA judge, Clara Rubin.

Bottega Collio Pinot Grigio 2022, Veneto, Italy

The temperature, humidity and variety of well-drained soils create the perfect conditions for growing Pinot Grigio at the DOC Venezia vineyards. This wine is light and dry, with floral and citrus notes that lead to a mineral finish. 

Giacomo Recchia from Bob Bob Ricard says this is ‘a fine dining wine that’s perfect for roast chicken or pork.’ 

Silver Awarded Wines

Badet Clément Le Bosq Rouge 2023, France

Respected French wine producer Badet Clément is known for its commitment to quality and tradition, crafting wines that showcase the diverse terroirs and rich winemaking heritage of France. This particular blend is 70% Carignan, 25% Grenache and 5% Syrah. 

SWA judge Stephanie Wangui describes this wine as ‘a juicy and inviting wine with high acidity and ripe, integrated tannins.’ 

Bronze Awarded Wines

Silverhand Estate Classic Brut NV, Kent, England

Silverhand Estate is an English winery, renowned for its exquisite sparkling wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the region's terroir and climate. The Classic Brut NV has a perfumed nose with hints of citrus and white fruits and is fresh and easy on the palate. 

Stephanie Wangui write that this wine has ‘a real intensity and vibrancy in the bouquet’ and ‘a range of fruit and floral notes.’

Bottega Rose Gold NV, Lombardy, Italy

Bottega is an esteemed Italian winery that needs no introduction! Celebrated for its luxury and innovation, their sparkling wines combine traditional craftsmanship with modern elegance. 

Bottega Rose Gold is a fresh, harmonious, and delicate sparkling wine made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. Charlotte page from Joël Robuchon Group says that this subtle prosecco will make you want another glass.

Ultimate Provence Rosé 2022, Côtes de Provence, France 

Located in the heart of the Côtes de Provence, Ultimate Provence is renowned for its stylish and vibrant rosé wines that capture the essence of the Mediterranean lifestyle. 

‘It has a great concentration of fruit with a full and rich palate that’s balanced by high acidity’ says SWA judge Davide Santeramo.
