UK leading drinks wholesaler, Matthew Clark, has partnered with Herefordshire winery Sixteen Ridges, in a first for the UK wine industry to produce ‘By Golly’, an Early Release Pinot Noir, being launched to celebrate the November tradition for young, fruity wines.
With widely reported speculation and uncertainty regarding transportation of goods from Europe post 31st October, Simon Jerrome – Wine Buying Director at Matthew Clark, said the company faced the prospect of potentially disappointing customers who celebrate the release of young, fruity wines from France, and wanted to make sure they had something special to celebrate in November.
Jerrome said; “It has been well documented that 2019 continues to bring a unique set of challenges for trade between the UK and our partners in Europe, so we have had to be creative with our contingency plans. We took the inspiration for ‘By Golly’ from our neighbours in France, and turned to Sixteen Ridges for help in producing an Early Release wine to delight our customers with at this traditional time of year.”
Simon Day, Winemaker at Sixteen Ridges Winery said; “We’ve been on an exciting and fast-paced winemaking adventure this harvest, partnering with Matthew Clark to produce this belter of a red wine. It has taken just seven weeks to make, using our lovely ripe Pinot, grown on our sheltered Herefordshire hillside vineyards. ‘By Golly’ is a beautifully soft and fruity, Early Release Pinot Noir that we are all really proud of.”
By Golly Nouveau is strictly limited and exclusive to Matthew Clark, order now.
